PAR 1 – Parallax Series Chairs, Leg Base Seating

CHAIR FRAME

• Chair frame is 36" overall height and 18-1/2" overall width.
• Front legs are 1-5/8" square at the top, tapering to 1-3/8" square at the bottom.
• The back post is bent from selected hardwood and finished to a thickness of 1-1/4".
• Back post is routed to the proper depth to accept the seat and seat apron, ensuring the vertical sitting load is supported by the horizontal routes.
• Back top rail measures 3-1/2" overall height and 1" thick and is bent to a radius of 18".
• Parallax chair is available with or without an accent hole in the back frame top rail, and with either a wood seat or upholstered seat.

BACK FRAME

• Top back rail is double doweled to the vertical back posts and reinforced with #10 x 1-1/4" wood screws.
• Parallax version with accent hole includes a 2-1/4" diameter hole positioned on the centerline of the top back rail.
• Chair back includes five horizontal back slats measuring 1-1/2" W x 5/8" thick.
• Back slats are tenoned and glued into the side rails of the back frame and are equally spaced.
• Seat apron is bent from selected hardwood and finished to 7/8" thick x 1-5/8" W.
• Seat apron is tenoned and glued to both the front legs and back posts.
• Side stretchers and cross stretchers measure 1" W x 3/4" thick.
• All joinery is mortised, tenoned, and glued.
• Cross stretchers at the connecting joint are reinforced with a steel pin.

CHAIR SEAT – UPHOLSTERED

• Upholstered chair seat panel is 3/4" thick 5-ply plywood.
• Seat receives 2" thick HR-55 high-resilient polyurethane foam glued to the top surface of the seat panel, then upholstered.
• Cambric material is applied to the bottom of the seat panel.
• Seat rim rests on a horizontal notch in the back post.
• Seat is attached to the frame with 11 wood screws driven through the seat apron into the bottom of the seat.

CHAIR SEAT – WOOD

• All wood seat is 1-1/4" thick.
• Constructed from random width boards between 1" and 4" W.
• Seat is scooped for seating comfort.
• Seat rim rests on a horizontal notch in the back post.
• Seat is attached to the frame with 11 wood screws driven through the seat apron into the bottom of the seat.

GLIDES

• Chairs are equipped with 7/8" diameter nylon glides.

UPHOLSTERY MATERIALS AND FABRICS

• Brodart fabric selections and polyurethane foam are fire rated.
• Fabrics meeting California Technical Bulletin #133 are available.
